Welcome to the world, Ashley!!

We are officially Aunt, Uncle and Cousin!!
Esther and Ashley are doing very well, both tired, but they did a great job. It was an honor to be there for the birth and witness such a miracle. Truly a highlight in my life!

Dreaming of warmer weather...

This is what gets you through those cold, winter days when spring seems so far away. Looking forward to our cruise this summer!

Anyone out there with a green thumb?

Our palm tree needs help. My sister gave us this beautiful plant for our first anniversary and it thrived in the sunroom of our previous home. Now it is dying a slow death and I have no idea what to do. I have repotted it, put as much light on it that I can, water it just as much as I did before, but no such luck. I didn't realize how bad it was until I ran across an old photo I took of Joey. It made me sad. I'm not sure what the lifespan is on these kind of plants, but for this one it's not looking too good.

Peoney Wreath

Ever since we moved I have envisioned putting a big white wreath above our bed. I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like and figured I would make it, but for some reason could never find the time. Well, the other day I was in Target and saw the wreath I have been thinking of, but it wasn't large enough. I love peonies, they are my favorite flower. Their smell is unlike any other and they are so unique looking. My new project is to find some silk peonies and put it together. I'll let you know how it goes.

Insight in our lives...

Today I have been inside enjoying my time with "Abs of steal" (that's what my sister calls her). Speaking of my sister, her baby was due on Monday. We are all waiting anxiously for that phone call thinking Ashley will be coming any moment. Esther has been the most positive pregnant woman I know. I don't think I have heard her complain once during her pregnancy, except for the smell of curry and Chinese food (who can blame her?). I know when I was only five days overdue I felt like it was torture. Her doctor wanted to induce her this Sunday (tomorrow) if the baby didn't come yet and Esther talked her doctor out of it. She says she feels great and doesn't know what pregnant women make such a big deal about. Kudos to you Esther!!! She has already told me she would be my surrogate mother if I ever needed one. What a wonderful sister. Ugh, maybe I should have her put that in writing before she goes into the labor ;) Last I heard, her next option is to be induced on the 29th. We're hoping it's before that, so they won't have a leap year baby!
Yesterday it snowed a lot. This is the biggest snow storm we have had this season. Brian and I had cabin fever since we were both home from work. I can't remember the last time we were both home all day together. It was quite interesting. Today he is out enjoying God's beautiful creation, skiing with some of the youth group kids and my brother.

This is the view from our front door and that's the pool straight ahead.

The hat and bib seem to be important, but the socks, not so much.

Abby's toys are taking over the house and the dog is taking over the furniture.

pretty cool

One of the students from Brian's youth group decided to draw a picture of Abby from a photo. We thought it was really nice and wanted to share with you.
